Tabi basa & greetings everyone. In this post, I woud like to share my story during previous Gawai celebration at Kpg Taee, Serian on 31 May 2026.
Prologue
This marks the first time I am celebrating Gawai at Kpg Taee because all this while, I am celebrating it at my village. During uni days, I am celebrating it with my fellow friends at the campus as we were preparing for our final exam.
Gawai celebration starts early around 6.30, but I deliberately arrive late because even if I arrive early, they are still having their dinner.
Upon arrival, the Kumau and Kaleng contestants already lined-up at the back of the hall. You can see it at this video. Too bad the microphone was giving me some problem and caused the audio disturbance.
Midnight Hour
Then, during the midnight, it is time for Gawai firework show. Just like any other eventgoers, we went outside. Quite a lot of us since Kpg Taee is quite well-known among people outside Serian.
As I was recording, I spotted this couple enjoying the firework show.
Initially they were standing there like any other spectators. But then, she moved closer and leaned her head on his shoulder.
That’s when I adjusted my aim and captured a few shots of them standing near the Gawai Parade Truck.
I tapped his shoulder and shown them the pictures, to which they were excited to see.
That brought me to this realisations:
Love Expression
Love expression doesn’t have to be expensive. Sometimes, the simplest one is the best one.
Attention As The Currency of Love
To keep love going, one would need to pay attention to one another. Even in a busy day, it is wise to spend a minute or two to text one another.
You Reap What You Sow
A healthy relationship is very much like dancing or duet. Both needs to play their part to make it happen. If it is only one person who is giving 100%, while the other only gave 50%, or less, it will be an exhaustive relationship and won’t last long.
One need to give an equal amount of effort for it to work.
To Love Is To Be Vulnerable
Lastly, to love is to be vulnerable, to be open with your feelings because if you are not, then it is no different from doing a professional business with someone else.
Epilogue
I have quite a number of experience handling weddings and engagements and have seen quite a lot of colours of people’s attitude.
The best couple are the one who listens to one another. Without good communication, it is not going to work. If you have to think first before saying something to your couple for fear of backlash, are you really in love?
