Tabi basa & greetings everyone. In this post, I would like to share about something that we often take for grante, which is listening to your heart.

Prologue
I was doing my chores when this song plays on my automated playlist. It is an old song by Swedish rock duo, Roxette, released in September 1988.
It has a profound chorus, and title itself means, just listen to your heart. Some argued that our heart is only a set of valves, but it actually has a lot of mini-brains that enables bidirectional communication with our brain.
The Heart Matters
When it comes to heart matters, it is delicate. I can’t say the same about everyone else, but what I am writing here is based on my personal experience.
What I have observed is that even though someone is in a relationship with one person, there is no 100% guarantee that the person will end up with that person.
During university days, I have seen couples in a relationship since first year all the way until their final year. Many thought that they will be together after the university life.
However, we thought wrong.
They did not ended up together. Each walked their own separate life.
Not one, not two but quite a number that I have observed. I will not disclose their names here but suffice for me to say about their fate.
The One That Get Away
After that being said and done, there are some who expressed their regrets behind their spouse, about how they should have stayed with the other. About how they actually prefer the other boy or girl, or some instance, pursue their forbidden love.
Being the person I am, I can only offer my condolences to them for having such thought because time can only moves forward. We can only live towards the future.
The more time we spend dwelling on the past, the less time we have with our present. In fact, we are only living in the present. No one can guarantee the future.
That is why it is important for us to be thankful for whatever that we have in the present moment: our health, our family, our loved ones, friends etc.
Listen To Your Heart
Before you choose your partner, I think it is important for your to listen to your heart. I am aware that these days, some would prefer to listen to their friends about an opinion about a certain person and whether they can pursue them or not.
However, I would advise that only you can make that final call because you are talking about your own life.
Your circle of friends might change, but the one you chose will stay with you. I am not a fan of changing partner like one changes clothes because that is not a sustainable way of living.
The more time you spend on chasing “love”, the less time you have at hand to improve your livelihood.
Get a stable partner, the one that didn’t gave you any drama or headache. Clash of opinions are inevitable, but there is a clear difference between drama king / queen than disagreements.
Rule of Thumb
Find someone that you can communicate freely with. That helps to avoid resentment from building up. If resentment builds up, it can lead to a lot of unwanted problems, such as marriage life conflict, health issues, mental health issues etc.
You will be like walking time bomb, and eventually will explode. All hell breaks loose.
Choose Wisely
When it comes to choosing your life’s partner, aside from the logical assessments, don’t forget that heart matters too. Your potential partner might look good, but if there is something that feels off, you might want to take a pause.
Otherwise, if is right, your heart will give a glowing bright greenlight and you will be smiling from ear to ear during your big day.
Epilogue
Therefore, listen to your heart for it is cannot lie. Although it is not guaranteeing anything, hope this short sharing helps. Have a good week ahead!
