Holy Thursday at Church of Mater Dei

Tabi basa & good morning everyone. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish fellow Christians Blessed Good Friday no matter where you are.

In this post, I’m sharing some of the pictures taken during Holy Thursday mass at Church of Mater Dei (CMD) last night. Holy Thursday, or Maundy Thursday is the day during Holy Week that commemorates the Washing of the Feet and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles as described in the gospel.

My initial plan for Holy Week was to go back home & celebrate it at my hometown because it has been 4 long-years not celebrating it at my hometown. But this year, a scenario arises and I am not able to go back. The least I can do is to go to church.

I usually go to St Joseph’s Cathedral for mass, but this time since I am not on any active duty, I decided to go to CMD for Holy Thursday mass.

During the mass itself, Washing of the Feet is being done by the celebrant, Rev. Fr Henry Saleh with 12 chosen personnel.

From a distance I can spot a friend of mine, Mark Julex who is singing at the choir.

For me, going to church gives me a sense of peace, an antidote to a chaotic life outside. The calm, brief moment before mass starts is golden. Everyone was silent – praying, reflecting their lives etc.

There were quite a few viral items too, but I chose to not to take part in propagating it as it is not aligned with my values.

That’s all for now. Stay safe & take care!

Claudius
