Maring Sikulah (Back from School)

Tabi basa & greetings everyone. Today I’d like to share some images that was captured during my recent visit to SK St Dominic Pichin, my former alma mater to pick my nephew & niece.

It’s good to visit this school once in a while, so that I can see how far it has progressed.

Back when we were in school long time ago, it was still a rural school, just like most of the schools are Serian division.

Primary 4, 1999.
The same hill, 24 years later.

It was still called SRB St Dominic Pichin back then. It took a while for us to get used to its new title of SK (Sekolah Kebangsaan).

From a far, I can hear these kids shouting, adeh tukang rantek mandug, ra ngamar adep (literally, tukang rantek has arrived, to capture our images).

There were lots of style, some of them posed for the camera, some kept a curious eye, while some can’t even contain their excitement.

Most of them just act neutral, masking their excitement within.

But whether a child is putting extra effort in their life or not, can be seen in their results. Also, in their interaction with their peers and that actually will determine where they will land in their life.

Those who live their life like a drone, like a zombie, rarely able to make it far. They will land somewhere, but compared to those who is putting extra effort all the time, not by much.

EPILOGUE

Hopefully, this post can act as one of the ways for them to capture their childhood memories, especially for my family.

There is a lot of things that was not captured by camera in the past, those key moments, such as receiving awards, fun times at school. However, not all of those are not making it into the photoalbum.

Camera was not cheap back then. Reserved for super special moments.

Now, we have phone cameras. That can be used as photo capturing items.
