Tabi basa & greetings everyone. Mimpi Yang Sempurna can be translated into “Perfect Dream” in English. The closest definition in Bidayuh is “Piyamǔh De Paguh”. Apart from a catchy song by Peterpan / Noah, what does it mean actually? By the way, I have covered an acoustic version recently at Senai International Airport along with the buskers there. WHAT IS A DREAM?
Dream is intangible, and subjective. Your dream and my dream are two different things. Using our current tech, we can’t actually visualise our thoughts, let alone our dream. Yes, there are some electrical and brainwaves, but that’s it. We can see it like how we see a movie. Dream is complicated & it can be good, bad or in certain belief, it is where gods talk to the chosen one – to deliver news, both good or bad.
WHAT IS A PERFECT DREAM?
When comes Perfect Dream, it became simpler. Safe for me to say, a Perfect Dream is where we can experience all the things that we desire: where the common theme is appearance, power, love, rich – whatever that we can imagine. Example: in your dream, you are an strong / beautiful person with 10-look, ultra-rich person, leader of a certain large organisation, talented, good with self-defence, has a loving wife & family, etc. It feels good to achieve it, isn’t it?
IT IS NOT REALITY
As much as we want to live in that dream, it is not a reality. In reality, most of the time, we are far from our current dream. But, if you notice, think about the dream(s) that you had during your childhood. Did you achieve some of it?
DREAM AS OUR FUEL
Though we can’t realise 100% of our Perfect Dream, by having it as our target, it helps us to move forward into the future simply by giving us something to hope for, something that we always strive to achieve, even though temptations are all around us. For example, our bed feels the most comfortable when we need to wake up & work on our dream. That one donut / chocolate drink feels the most delicious when we want to lose weight.
SUMMARY
But, you can’t make an omelette without breaking an egg. Without sacrifice, we can’t make our dream a reality. Ultimately, the choice is ours to make.
