Tabi basa & greetings everyone. In this post, I’d like to share about an extended version of an excerpt of my post yesterday about single person.

Prologue
Yesterday I spend the whole 5 hours, sitting down quietly, writing about my recent career / motivation talk at Curtin. One of the topic that talked about was Words for The Single
Word For The Single
During that session, I noticed that there is a large group of single peoples there in the crowd. But I assured them, since they are still young and yet to have a partner, it is perfectly fine because each person’s blessing is different.
We are living a different timeline, from a different starting point and it is an insult towards our potential if we start to compare ourselves with other peoples highlight reel.
This is especially true because most of the people in a newly-formed relationship tend to flaunt their romance, they want to tell the whole world about their recent success. That is what I call their highlight reel.
Some of the singles would feel bad about themselves when they saw this, as if Lady Luck is leaving their side in the dark. There they are, doom-scrolling themselves to their sleep in their dark bedroom.
But…
Comparison Is A Thief Of Joy.
Ladies and gentlemen, please, please don’t fall victim to the social media trap. Soc-med is perfectly engineered to make us feel bad, making us feel like we are inadequate where in fact, we are enough.
We might think that we are unlucky, but we often forgot to count our blessings: a loving family, a roof on top of our head, a place to sleep and take shower whenever, a group of friends that we can hang out with when we win something in life.
That is a blessing from the almighty God.
It might not be as glamorous just like those haenyeo in the K-Drama when Life Gives You Tangerines.
Come to think of it: if we take those camera away, what difference does those K-drama has with your life? I bet, it is the same.
Of course, it is geographically different, culturally different and you will see it is as a normal. It is definitely normal for you and I because we that is the life that we know.
Once you realised this, you will see that your life is actually an interesting life. The best part, you can create something out of your life from every single moment.
Why don’t you make it a memorable one? Be good at something: singing, photography, dancing, etc.
You can make stand-up comedy as well. Isn’t that great?
By knowing this too, we can actually focus on what really matters: family, our wellbeing and don’t forget our spiritual life.
The Magic of Gratitude
No matter how far or high we fly, don’t forget to pray. By practicing gratitude, we actually opening up more opportunities to receive more blessings. We normally don’t get what we want, but we usually have what we need.
By now, you should be able to remember few instances where you actually received what you really need at that time.
Though it is not as perfect as what you want, but it helped you with your life’s trouble at that time.
Life now is tough, but it never meant to be easy.
Don’t forget the hardship that we are facing today is actually preparing us for a bigger role in the future.
Most importantly, to compensate our ageing body, we are blessed by wisdom. Hopefully in the future, our wisdom will be able to help someone in need in the future. Perhaps helping a community?
Don’t Chase, Attract
Don’t worry if we don’t get what we want. Don’t chase what we want, but do the opposite – attract what we want.
Chasing is tiring, and it comes from sense of desperation.
Just imagine what you want as a butterfly. In my case, cats. I love cats.
If you chase cats, they will run away. But if you have what they want, they will come purring to you. Such is cat.
Try to envision the future that you want to be in. Try to imagine what kind of person you would like to be: charismatic, good looking young man/woman.
However, do you think you will be able to accomplish that if you keep on looking at the closed door? Who shut the door? Oh, the girl that friend-zoned you.
When a girl friend-zoned you, nothing much you can do. Just move on.
Instead, just focus on your life (in this case, your study), your passion and the things that you enjoyed the most.
Spend time with family too, especially the young ones and the elderly. The young won’t stay young forever and the elderlies will not be here forever too.
Eventually, you will be attracting the person that shares the same value as you.
You will know when you meet that person.
Epilogue
Being single is not a disease, not is a badge of shame. It is perfectly fine as long as you are well-aware of your current situation and maintain a healthy aspect of life. Remember, when it comes to relationship, trust your gut instinct. It never lies.
Life is more than just being in a relationship. Until next time.
