Tabi basa & greetings everyone. Today I’d like to share about the recent wedding which I’ve photographed (and emcee’d too), which is Ives & Tienaforenna’s wedding blessing at Kpg Pichin, Serian.

About 5.30pm, it was raining cats and dogs at Kpg Pichin, which puts a halt into almost everything, except peoples working at Awah Gawai Tun Abdul Razak, or simply Awah Gawai, in preparation for the night’s event.

Both Ives & Tiena arrived around 6.30pm, where both of them were dressed in dazzling dark blue attire, ready to welcome guests – coming from Pichin and all around Malaysia, including Sabah & Labuan.

Once Tiena’s family, the Bintulu group arrived, they proceeded with the formal event around 7.30pm.

BRIDAL MARCH

DINNER BLESSING
Mang Sony became the emcee of the night. As usual, the event was started with dinner blessing in accordance to Catholic ways, followed by wedding cake blessing by Mang Jalep.

In between dinners and the next official event, few guests took the opportunity to capture images with both Ives & Tiena.

WEDDING SPEECHES

After dinner, there was a session for representative from both side to say something before finally it’s time for cake-cutting ceremony. Ives’s was represented by his father, who gave a straight-to-the-point speech, whilst Tiena’s representative was her uncle.

Their wedding cake was blessed by bro Christian Tuki, followed by the usual cake-related ceremony.

Then, both Tiena & Ives sang a song together, Joget Oh Bulan.

It was followed by Bier & his wife, to which Ives & Tiena danced together.

Apai & Indai Luna follows that with their own couples song together – a song by Bunga Citra Lestari and Ari Lasso.

NAKUH OMON (NYADONG AI)
Whilst the emcee calls upon singers from each side, Ives & Tiena walked around, sadong @ giving drinks for guests, just like usual Dayak Iban & Bidayuh wedding tradition.

THE HIDING SLIPPER
Another funny story that happened during the event was a slipper was found stuck at Tiena’s wedding dress. Oh my.

They continued with the same session after they changed into a more comfortable second costume, and as the awah gawai became warmer too, thanks to the ever-active guests.

CONTINUE WITH ENTERTAINMENT

TUKANG RANTEK BECOMES THE EMCEE
At about 1am, Mang Sony requested for my help to be the emcee since he’s tired already. I honoured his request, and we continued on until about 4.15am.
Throughout that 3 hours, my skills in multi-lingual was tested, but I am happy that I am able to converse in Iban and that allowed me to manage both Bidayuh & Iban-speaking crowds. For common announcement, I mix BM too.

END OF A WILD NIGHT
At around 4am, I noticed that the crowd is already making their way back home. Therefore, as usual, I make an announcement to the audience that we are going to sing, one final song: It’s My Life.
The crowd went wild, as usual. It can be considered Bon Jovi’s best song. From them, I love Bed of Roses, Livin’ On A Prayer and These Days too.

I also did a bit of fun photoshoot with my friends here, where they and their wives stayed on until the end of Ives & Tiena’s wedding event.

These groups really savour the final drops of the event because they know, this is the last event before another Gawai rami at the end of this month.

It was indeed a night to be remembered. Once again, blessed wedding to both Ives & Tiena!
